Using a Standard Operating Guide
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in its standard on industrial fire brigades (29 CFR 1910.156) requires that employers provide fire brigade leaders and training instructors with training and education that is more comprehensive than that provided to the general membership of the fire brigade.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has also adopted a standard on Industrial Fire Brigades (NFPA 600). This standard requires that industrial fire brigade members designated as leaders shall receive training and education commensurate with their response duties. Like OSHA, NFPA also requires that such training must be more comprehensive than that provided to other brigade members
