COURSE DETAILS

SCOPE

The course is limited to those personnel who already have the advanced firefighting certification and have maintained 1 year of sea time within the last 5 years.

This model course aims to provide training in advanced firefighting in accordance with the assessments identified in 46 CFR 11.303(c). The emphasis of the training is on organization, tactics, and command.

A mariner who successfully completes the course will satisfy the Advanced Firefighting training revalidation requirements of STCW Code Section A-VI/3 and 46 CFR 11.201(h)(1), and 11.303(d), provided that the mariner has at least 1 year of sea service within the last 5 years.

PREREQUISITES

As specified in 46 CFR 11.303(b), mariners holding STCW officer endorsements are required to demonstrate continued proficiency for the revalidation of the Advanced Firefighting endorsement. Mariners who have at least 1 year (360 days) of seagoing service within the previous 5 years will be considered to have met a portion of this requirement; the remainder must be demonstrated ashore in Coast Guard approved or accepted Advanced Firefighting Revalidation training that includes assessment in those Advanced Firefighting competencies that cannot be demonstrated through sea service.

CERTIFICATES
Disclaimer: Certificate verbiage is dictated by the United States Coast Guard and we have no authority to make changes.

The Advanced Fire Fighting continued standards of competence required by 46 CFR 11.303(b) for mariners who have previously held an Advanced Fire Fighting endorsement under STCW Code Section A-VI/3, PROVIDED that the mariner has at least 1 year of sea service within the last 5 years; STCW Code Section A-VI/3 and Table A-VI/3, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 09-14(Ch-1) Tasks 1.3.A, 1.5.A, 2.1.A, 2.1.B, 3.1.A, 3.1.B, 4.1.A, 4.1.B and 4.1.C.
