COURSE DETAILS

SCOPE

The course combines live, instructor-led virtual lectures with in-person practical training. Lectures are delivered via Zoom during the first three days of the course, followed by hands-on practical exercises and course examinations conducted in person on the final day.

This course aims to provide training in advanced firefighting in accordance with Section A-VI/3 of the STCW Code. The emphasis of the training is on organization, tactics, and command.

A mariner who successfully completes the course will satisfy the Advanced Firefighting training requirements of STCW code Section A-VI/3 and 46 CFR 11.201(h), and 11.303(a).

This syllabus covers the requirements of the 1995 STCW Convention Chapter VI, Section A-VI/3 and Table -VI/3. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in advanced firefighting, a trainee will be competent to take command, organize, and train fire parties and control firefighting operations. The seafarer will have acquired a knowledge of fire prevention and an ability to inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment. He will also be able to investigate and report on incidents involving fire.

PREREQUISITES

This course is open to seafarers who have completed basic training in fire prevention. All trainees must be certified by a doctor to be in good health.

Any applicant who has successfully completed your Advanced Fire Fighting (RCMMAR-15) course will satisfy:

The Advanced Fire Fighting standards of competence required by 46 CFR 11.201(h)(2)[Advanced only]; AND

The standards of competence required by 46 CFR 11.303(a); STCW Code Section A-VI/3 and Table A-VI/3, as amended 2010, meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 09-14(Ch-1), all Tasks.
