COURSE DETAILS
SCOPE
This course aims to train candidates to launch and take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat in emergency situations. In addition, it provides instruction and assessment to meet the requirements of:
- 46 CFR 12.407(b)(3) for endorsement as Lifeboatman, PROVIDED that this training was completed within one year of the date of application
- The Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC) training requirements of:
- 46 CFR 11.309(a)(4)(v)
- 46 CFR 11.319(a)(4)(v)
- 46 CFR 11.321(a)(3)(iii)
- 46 CFR 11.329(a)(4)(iii)
- 46 CFR 11.335(a)(3)(iii)
- The Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC) standards of competence required by:
- 46 CFR 12.613
- STCW Code Section A-VI/2 and Table A-VI/2-1, as amended 2010
- Meeting the National Assessment Guidelines from NVIC 01-24, including Tasks:
- 1.1.A, 1.2.A, 1.3.A, 1.3.B, 1.3.C, 1.3.D, 1.4.A, 1.4.C, 1.5.A, 1.6.A, 1.8.A, 1.9.A
- 2.1.A, 3.1.A, 3.1.B, 3.2.A, 3.3.A, 3.4.A, 3.5.A, 3.5.B, 3.6.A, 3.7.A, 3.8.A
- 4.1.A, 4.1.B, and 4.2.A
Upon successful completion of this course, the mariner will have received sufficient information, instruction, and assessment to perform the duties and responsibilities for an STCW endorsement in Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats Other Than Fast Rescue Boats (PSC) in 46 CFR 12.613.

PREREQUISITES
For admission to the course, seafarers must be certified by a doctor to be in good health.
They must also have completed the full STCW Basic Training course in accordance with Regulation VI/1 of STCW 1995 as amended 2010.
CERTIFICATES
A mariner who successfully completes this course will be considered to have met the competency standards of:
