COURSE DETAILS
SCOPE
This training course is FULLY REMOTE and conducted by instructor-led virtual training through Zoom. This course provides instruction and assessment on maritime security for seafarers with designated security duties and raises awareness of security issues when alongside, at anchor, and at sea. The course examination can be conducted in person or via our USCG-approved online testing platform.
A mariner who successfully completes the course will satisfy the training requirements of:
- 46 CFR 12.625(a)(1)
- STCW Table A-VI/6-2 for an STCW endorsement as Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties
This course enables all seafarers to meet the minimum standard of competence in security awareness for seafarers with security duties, as outlined in:
- The ISPS Code
- The STCW Convention Table A-VI/6-2
- IMO Model Course 3.26
PREREQUISITES
There are no specific course pre-requisites. It is assumed that those attending this course will be serving Seafarers or other shipboard personnel and are likely to have designated security duties in connection with the Ship Security Plan.
CERTIFICATES
A mariner who successfully completes the course and presents this certificate will satisfy the training requirements of:
- 46 CFR 12.625(a)(1)
- STCW Table A-VI/6-2 for an STCW endorsement as Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties
